Increase the Amount of Fiber in Your Diet for Better Health Nutrition Tips by Kris Anderson An appropriate amount of fiber in your diet can: · Reduce you intake of food, assisting in weight loss · Reduce the risk of heart disease · Lower blood cholesterol Fiber is found in fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. There is no fiber in animal food. The average American consumes approximately 17 grams of fiber per day. The recommended daily allowance is 25 grams.
