A POST Coaching Tip from Coach Leach: Recovery is the most important component of any training program – examples of strategies for recovery include: Ø Alternating training intensity daily – high one day and low or moderate the next Ø Alternating monthly training intensity – 1 week of moderate or low levels of training for every 2 – 3 weeks of high intensity training Ø Using Cross Training regularly Ø Taking a 2 – 6 weeks “Active Rest” following 2 or more months of high intensity training – “Active Rest” for runners involves – Þ Overall reduced activity Þ No structured running training – only casual, minimal running Þ Alternative activities, such as refreshing Cross Training Contact Coach Leach at bill@coachleach.com for details on: Ø Available Speed Training groups.
