Put “Spring” into your Spring running step – Add single leg hopping to your training routine 2 – 3 times each week after your training run.  Just stand on one foot and hop upward, landing on the same foot for a very brief time.  Repeat 10 – 20 times on each foot.  You can expect to increase your running speed and efficiency for the coming running season by “Hopping into Spring”.

 

PEAK into your early SpringThe early Spring PEAK Performance Training Program, by CARA, is in full bloom.  The 1 ˝ hour training sessions begin at 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., on Mondays and Thursdays at Accelerated Rehabilitation Center, 2400 North Sheffield and at 8:30 a.m. on Saturdays at the CARA Board.  The Monday Thursday sessions focus upon CORE strength improvements and the Saturday session is focused upon speed and hills.  More runners are welcome!

A great Run for “The Chicago Lakefront Track Club” – Emily Macdonald, Judith Neafsey and Kitty Monahan placed 3rd,, while running over a hilly course, on February 12, at the 2005 USATF National Cross Country Championships in Vancouver, Washington. 

 

  

A new entry into the “Human Race”!! – CONGRATULATIONS to Peakers, Tracy Heilman and Ray Macika on the birth of Boden Heilmann Macika – 9 pounds and 3 oz., 20 ˝ inches in length – born on March 1 at 12:49 p.m.

 

 

  

A PEAK at MarriageCongratulations to Amanda (Mandy) McMillan and Kevin McCarthy – married in West Palm Beach, Florida, Saturday, March 5, among many Runners, Triathletes and loving family.  Mandy and Kevin  met at the 2003 Boston Marathon!
