September 14, 2004 –

ANNOUNCEMENT!  Basic Core Training, a DVD guide for beginning CORE training is FINALLY complete and AVAILABLE via www.coachleach.com.

RUNNING TIP from Coach Bill Leach – The BEST is BEHIND YOU –

The important elements of Efficient and SAFE running form occur BEHIND YOU:

  • SWING YOUR Arms to the BACK aggressively – extend your elbows well behind your back with each arm swing
  • PULL YOUR FEET CLOSE to the front of your hips – Create a “PAWING” action toward the back, by your feet PRIOR to each foot strike

FYI – Runners accentuate movement of their arms, legs and feet to the rear – WALKERS accentuate movement to the front – DON’T RUN LIKE YOU WALK!

Good Nutrition Doesn’t Have to Cost an Arm and a Leg

By Dave Grotto, RD, LD

I often get complaints about the costs incurred by choosing a healthy diet. In fact we have a strange paradox in our country. Obesity rates are often highest where hunger exists. Cheap food often = high fat and calorie food. Yes, agreed that the initial costs are higher but in the long run, the cost savings abound. Here are just a few examples:

  1. Increased productivity and performance in ALL areas of life!
  2. Less sick days
  3. Less hospitalizations
  4. Less medications
  5. Better achievement academically
  6. Get my point?

One of the nutrition services I offer is a personalized grocery shopping excursion. This opportunity can demonstrate how one can save money and improve health at the same time. For more information, go to www.nutritionhousecall.com.
