Active Rest is Recommended – a coaching point from Coach Bill Leach

Reduced training for 3-4 weeks is a valuable change following the completion of a full or half marathon.  There will be great long term benefit if you take this time to:

  • Exercise much less
  • Cross train in lieu of structured running
  • Train at very low levels of duration and intensity
  • Accept the urge to resist training if it doesn’t seem to be fun

After a period of reduced training, resume structured training at a low level.  This will ensure that you are rested, refreshed, and ready to meet the challenges and demands of the next training cycle!

Training will begin in November, for:

  • Preparation for final chance opportunities for qualifying for The 2009 Boston Marathon
  • Preparation for The 2009 Boston Marathon
  • Preparation for any Marathons in the first six months of 2009
